Continuing Spiritual Growth
Spiritual Growth is described in detail in 2 Peter 1:3-8,
"His divine power has given us everything needed for life and
godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us by his own
glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and
precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the
divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil
desires. For this very reason, make every effort to add to
your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge,
self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to
perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and
to brotherly kindness, love. For if you possess these
qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being
ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus
Christ."
This is about putting faith into action, helping each other get closer
to God, helping one another better listen to and understand God's
calling for us. Everything from Worship to Bible Study to Education to
Retreats to Prayer Groups are part of how St. John's provides a spiritual home base
for us.
Spiritual growth happens in a myriad of ways and at different times in
our lives. It is our heart felt desire to walk alongside one
another as we discover the saving power of our Blessed Savior; and
find not only solace and comfort, but the zeal to be faithful
stewards in all that we do.
